PRODIVERSA field study
In 2013 a joint field study was organized. We investigated the spatial and temporal genetic structure of the spring bloom diatom in the Baltic Sea. Network members took part in a series of spring cruises, collecting samples in the different basins throughout the spring period and isolating cells potentially representing different spatial and temporal populations for genotyping.
WORKSHOP
Tjärnö 27-28.8.2014
Our final meeting will be held in Tjärnö during the last week of August. We will have three topical sessions on,
-Biogeography, dispersal and colonization
-Genetic diversity/differentiation along temporal and spatial scales
-Intraspecific diversity and adaptation (experimental evolution)
We will also have lectures on protist and aquatic habitat specific issues and challenges in population studies and lectures on the future of population ecological studies.
